BEYOND ACUPUNCTURE

Healing by Balancing the Body, Mind and Spirit.

My name is Lizzie and I run Beyond Acupuncture in Bruton, Somerset.

Acupuncture is an ancient healing technique which can aid specific symptoms, or a fantastic treatment to maintain good health and well-being.

Treatment consists of inserting very fine, sterile, single use needles into certain areas of your body, increasing the flow of vital energy (Qi, pronounced Chee) and blood, helping your body to restore balance and harmony.  Acupuncture uses the network of energy channels called meridians.

Acupuncture is a constitutional treatment which treats the individual as a whole, and has a profound healing effect on a physical, mental, and emotional level.  It can be a relaxing, restorative treatment.

TRADITIONAL CHINESE MEDICINE (TCM)

This approach of Chinese Medicine has evolved over thousands of years and this acupuncture addresses a wide range of health issues via inserting fine, single use needles into certain points on the body to maintain balance and harmony.

Prevention is known to be better than cure and during the appointment lifestyle and dietary advice may be included.

Other additions of Traditional Chinese Medicine are Cupping, Guasha and the use of Moxa.

FIVE ELEMENT ACUPUNCTURE

Five Element theory has been used for thousands of years and each Element: Fire, Earth, Metal, Water or Wood are associated with nature and each Element is connected to our everyday life with, diet, personality and emotional health.

Using this type of Acupuncture can prevent disease, strengthen the body with associated lifestyle changes and improve our emotional health.

Certain acupuncture points are used to balance the Elements and our emotions.

GUASHA

Guasha is a Chinese Medicine technique that uses a tool to scrape the skin, increasing blood flow, removing stagnation and producing an anti-inflammatory effect.

The skin will show a 'Sha' which is seen as red or dark purple on the skin (a little like a bruise) depending on how much stagnation is evident.  The Sha will disappear after 5-9 days and will have to be covered during this time.  I can show you photographs of guasha at time of treatment, if required.

MOXABUSTION

Moxa is a well used technique, where a slow burning herb, called Mugwort, is used to warm and stimulate blood and energy (Qi) flow and helps ease pain.

Moxa can be used in various ways, on the skin, above the skin or on top of the needle. The most common approach is applying it directly to specific acupuncture points or by holding it close to the point, so the individual gains its therapeutic warming effects.

CUPPING

Cupping is a well known Chinese modality which incorporates the use of cups, using suction, either by fire or vacuum, which are applied to the body to increase the blood flow to muscles and ease pain.

Cupping can help release toxins and promote muscle relaxation and boost the immune system.

ELECTROACUPUNCTURE

Electroacupuncture is a modern take on the ancient modality where a small electrical current is passed between pairs of acupuncture needles. It can enhance the benefits of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

This technique is great for treating acute muscular pain.

AURICULAR ACUPUNCTURE

Auricular acupuncture is commonly used alongside Traditional Chinese Medicine to help balance and regulate your body's homeostatic mechanism. Small, single use sterile needles are placed on specific areas of your ear, stimulating the meridians.

It can be used alone, or in conjunction with an acupuncture treatment.  It is great for smoking cessation, insomnia, addictions, stress and anxiety and much more.  Small ear seeds can be left in place so the treatment can continue once you have left the clinic.

VIBRATIONAL ACUPUNCTURE BY TUNING FORKS

Using the Eastern techniques of Acupuncture and incorporating the use of tuning forks can ground, center and calm you, clear stagnation and enhance the body's energy.

Due to our body's high water and bone content, this makes us the perfect resonators for sound and vibration. Your own body is the foundation for creating a calming and healing experience.

This technique can be used alone or alongside acupuncture.

This is a fantastic, alternative healing experience, especially for those who dislike the thought of needles.

REIKI

Reiki is a form of energy healing, where the transfer of universal energy flows from the practitioners palms to the individual who requires the healing.

Reiki is a relaxing treatment which aims to improve the flow of energy within the body, removing blocks, pain, and other symptoms, in a similar way to acupuncture, but without the use of needles.

THE EMOTION CODE

The Emotion Code is a transformative energy healing method, which can be done subconsciously, so you don't even have to visit the clinic.

It was devised by Dr Bradly Nelson as a way to effectively remove trapped emotions from the body to allow the body to heal faster and more efficiently.

It's an amazingly effective tool for aiding mental, physical, emotional and spiritual health, making you feel better and more balanced.

TREATING ANIMALS WITH
THE EMOTION CODE

The Emotion Code is also fantastic for treating animals, as they too can experience difficulties from trapped emotions.  Tapped emotions can manifest in animals as behavioural issues, anxiety and physical symptoms.

Using this safe, simple and effective method I can work with animals to change their past emotional experiences, and help bring relief to them, as well as their owners.
